PI Forum Brno #9: The Culture Behind Excellent Science

Scientific excellence does not come out of a vacuum, but is rooted in, is nurtured by, and grows from the institutional culture. In PI Forum #9, we aim to share, analyze, and discuss motivating and effective institutional practices that can help PIs and their teams grow.

Postdoc Forum II: Postdocs Between Roles: Navigating Responsibility, Communication and Expectations

Postdocs often find themselves supporting others long before they lead a team of their own. They mentor junior colleagues, supervise students, communicate with administration and research partners, and at the same time navigate their role as members of someone else’s group. This Postdoc Forum meeting will open space for sharing these everyday challenges, reflecting on different expectations and responsibilities, and offering practical tips on how to handle them with more confidence.

Beyond the Lab: Public Sector Careers

Many researchers want their work to make a broader impact – but the next step does not always have to lead deeper into academia or industry. This workshop introduces early-career researchers to career paths in the public sector, research support, policy, and science-related institutions. Join us for an inspiring and practical discussion with speakers who have moved from research into roles where science, strategy, and public impact meet.

PI Forum: Junior Faculty

Junior Faculty is an informal, cross-disciplinary group that serves as a voice for early-career principal investigators. It identifies shared challenges, surfaces practical concerns from day-to-day research leadership, and brings these issues forward to the leadership of the faculty and the academic senate. In this PI Forum, members of Junior Faculties from different institutions will share their experience with the founding process and first years of operation in an informal discussion.
